First off, i apologize if this was posted before as i couldn't find anything while searching.

The problem:
The in game text (in parentheses under the GP details) says when you have a Great Person start a GA, the GA will last a minimum of 3 turns?
Why do my Golden Ages always end up going down to TWO turns when started with a Great Person instead of three?

I certainly hope a explained this clearly enough :)

I usually save up my great persons until I enter a regular Golden Age and then use them to extend it further. You are correct though, in that it is misleading, and the "last" turn does not count, since the effect was really up (after) the turn before.

I may be wrong, but the next time, it happens it probably says Golden age 2 turns remaining, not 3. The game assumes that the play you are currently in is one of those 3 "turns". I don't think that you are cheated a turn. It is just the view at the top of the page shows you what may happen between turns.

It boils down to what is a turn? When you hit the "next turn" button, that is not a turn. The turn is when you are making your moves. Unfortunetly, a great person only benefits the two remaining turns actually since it really had no effect on it's "1st" turn. It did benefit the turn where the golden age is no longer listed. It is just not as noticeable. However it will not carry on to the turn after that one.

You took a REALLY long path to make that point. But, thank you you eventually making it ^.^

I'm not 100% as saying this from memory only, but I think minimum golden age length varies with game speed and the comment stays the same so is only correct for slower game speeds. I have been caught out in the past too.

That actually makes a lot of sense.
I usually play on quick (as even that takes me around 6 hours and i like to start and finish my games in one sitting) so i'll have to play around a little and see how accurate you are on this.
...and i'll be sure you PM you my results/post them in here. That way we can all know lol
