THG had an article where they broke 3.4 GB/s, about 75% faster than this setup.

And as cool as it is, you really need a large backer to afford all of these SSD's, as well as the hardware necessary.

With that being said, I chose a new monitor over a new SSD, but man was it a touch choice. Id love to have an intel 80GB G2, as those things are fast

I did not read the article - how much did his rig cost to put together? Are solid state drives still super expensive?

Each of those drives had to have been the 250GB version which was/is close to 700$ for a decent one. Add that to the cost of a pair of QX9770's, and all the other stuff and you get a rig that costs about 20000 USD, if not more.

Until I can get a 500 gig SSD for $100 CAD I'm not going to bother. The current speed is fast enough for me. I'd rather spend the money and space on 500 gig/1tb hard drives, new processor, gfx card, monitor etc.
