Guidelines & details

There are now nine Regular categories:

Best OCC Finsh (The Yellow Star: Earliest SS landing... a competitive award)
Best Newcomer (People's Choice... a prestigious award)
Favorite Writeup (People's Choice... a prestigious award)
Earliest Spaceship Landing (Any SS; not necessarily OCC)
Most Powerful Navy
Most Powerful Air Force
Most Reproductive Citizens
The Poles Are Fully Colonized Award
Fewest Wonders Award

There can be as many or as few other awards as suggestions and nominations allow. In GOTM 016, there were 26 total awards. Nominations can be posted to this thread, or PM'd to Starlifter.

The Deadline for Nominations is about ten days after the .SAV archive is posted by Duke of Marlbrough, and the results will come NLT 5 days later.

Remember that everyone and anyone can download the .SAV games and make nominations. You need not even play the GOTM to make a nomination!

Also, self-nominations are very cool. You know your own game the best, and the nomination need not come from one of your submitted .SAVs... it can come from anywhere in your own game.

As a reminder to everyone, the GOTM 17 (the June GOTM) results are now posted, and you can nominate from you own games, the threads & posts, and from the .SAVs in the Archive that Duke of Marlbrough has posted.

Some people have come up with gome great new categories so far, and one in particular that we should have begun a long time ago.... the "Best Newcomer" award.

I will post a few polls later today for certain awards that are best voted, including Best Newcomer.

We'll keep the nomination window open until next Monday evening, and get the Special Awards done by the end of next week!



One last thing... even people that do not play GOTMs can make input & suggest awards.... so if you are Playstation Civer, or didn't get to play this month, feel free to nominate (and of course vote on the polls that will be up later).

One more thing... from the GOTM018 nominations thread, we will have several new awards already.... in particular, the Best Newcomer Award and Favorite Writeup Award. The other suggestions from the GOTM 18 thread will also be input for GOTM 17 Special Awards, if applicable .



P.S., It might be a little confusing this month about which thread is which because there is simultaneously a June GOTM (#17 -- now open for Nominations until August 12th), a July GOTM (#18, "Fundy Only" -- official results are pending), and an August GOTM (#19, "Ancient Wonder Choice" -- game is currently in play). At this moment, all 3 of the above GOTMs are open for nominations, so just find the right thread title .
