I chose to play the whole game with 6 cities on the Iberian peninsula. Landed in 1X85.
(X = might induce some people to dream about a famous building;) ).

geez..you finished allready?

la fayette,
on dit parfois que seul ce qui dure est bon....
Tu aurais du prendre un peu plus ton temps :
Qu'est ce que tu va bien pouvoir faire d'ici le mois prochain ??

I haven't fallen in love with OCC yet (hence I played GOTM 26 instead of having a try at your OCC1)

Played till 1 AD.28 cities and 22 techs.Sun Tzu's and The Gardens built.Marco's next turn.I've only found 2 so I need it.Ready to start building vet crusaders for the coming...um....Crusades :)

Lost 1 city to barbs.Seeing alot of them but not coming after me so much.Probably add The Great Wall.It makes the king sleep better ;).Quite content in Monarchy at the moment

I'm trying OCC after a late start: Madrid founded on the tip of the "peninsula" 3400BC; at 1AD I had Colossus, 12 techs including Monarchy and just got Republic (but not Trade- a departure for me), and I am Pathetic. But then you knew that...

Madrid is size 6 with full food box, all land but the tip irrigated and roaded. Spain has an alliance with the French, and is on the way to visit the Russians. Researching Philosophy, freebie will be Trade, with a prestarted Settler for switching to caravan. No Barb visits yet - I could use a few...

I started by moving popping the hut up north and then founded Madrid to the south (3 turns lost). I got a NONE archer from the deal which moved west.

I decided I would build alot of cities this game. I have actually got 3 settlers out of 6 huts! That really helped. So far I am at 500 bc, going slow, 18 discoveries, 15 cities, hanging gardens (marco polo's embassy next turn). I wonder whether I should be a warmonger or not. I have contact with the French, Chinese and the Babylonians.

This is the first time I play with cities close to each other. I have put the cities near whales, gems and fishes so I had good science for a while until I traded techs with the other civs. It took 4-5 turn/tech for a while.

When did everyone discover Monarchy? (for me 1950 bc)
When did everyone find another civilization? (for me 600 bc)

I had Monarchy in 2250bc iirc and contacted around the same time as you.Perhaps a few turns earlier.I was eager to get Marco's onboard thats for sure.

Well I've made a mess of this.Gearing towards warfare,I failed to note restarts is on.Now I'm faced with the prospect of filling the map with cites :(

Played till 1000AD.Divoid of any plan at all,I wander aimlessly about the map.I think I am rid of the torquoise civ and down to 1 slot each for white and blue, the others are untouched as far as wipeout is concerned.
I even suffered 3 turns of anarchy when a poorly timed city bribe resulted in Senate collapse leaving my empire in turmoil for 60 years.
I am now in Democracy(1010ad).Celebrating "we love" while vainly continuing a crusade over the world.

One thing I saw that I have never seen before is a pikeman bribed by an elephant.I know this happens on deity and emperor but I did not know it could happen on king level. Now I do

I hope to finish, now at 1170AD. Tried not many cities. You are all correct to get Marco Polo. I built so many other wonders, suddenly the Indians beat me to it so I have no plan. Got Monarchy quickly tho.

I started and wanted to relax with the ease of playing king level -- well maybe I relaxed too much. The hut in view gave 50g. I roaded a shielded grass space & founded Madrid in -3700. Seville followed late after in -2550. Monarchy discovered -1500, switch at -1450. As of 480 AD, I have yet to contact another civ, but I’ve just finished Marco’s so the great contact turn is imminent. Went for HG first, thinking I could get both HG and Col into a so-so SSC site (did so) but…it came at a cost. Babylon has the Pyramids, AND Cope’s, and working on Magellan’s (with all the other Wonders yet to be started). I have 10 cities and 19 techs (with 7 more in AI domain, waiting for trades.). I was thinking about cramming in more cities, but no... I’m slowly perfectioning their placement so far.

Had pretty slow start, especially I guess for King Level; only Marco's Embassy built prior to 1 ad, and Mike's Chapel not built until just before 1000 ad. But I'm in the end game now and an interesting situation has developed. Having eliminated the Indian civilization, the Purples restarted as the Mongols on the five-square, all-wooded island to the northeast of the previous Indian civilization. Needless to say, an AI civ isn't programmed to establish a city in a wooded square. I plan to build a city on that island and then demand the Mongols "withdraw their troops."

With no city to go back to, what will the Mongol response be? Or, will this cause a program crash

few times I've played a tip huts and kick butt game, whenever an AI would order one my units away,I would just say "sure no problem".But having no city meant they stayed right where they were.I suspect the same will happen.

More likely the stupid Mongols will swear to rid the world of your evil empire blah blah.Maybe with a pitchfork? ;)

I am in 60 AD now: 16 cities, size up to 7. I am in Republic (from 425). I have MPE (675), Mike (200), HG (50), Lighthouse (60AD) - I don't rightclick, so I need it. I plan Bach, then Democracy, then conquest.
Almost a half of huts were barbs. :(

In the beginning I took the hut, got Alphabet (i.e. 10 science) and lost two turns. Bad deal.

1) I don't rightclick either. IMHO, it should be forbidden.
2) If all ambassadors were as wise as Marco...

Right now I am at 500 ad. I built MC at 240 ad and switched to republic 220 ad. Then I stopped building cities and started building roads etc. At 500 ad I have 37 cities, my late SSC is now size 18 (only colussus in it. Other cities are about size 5-7.) The indians built Coopernicus observatory unfortunately :( so my SSC will not be as effective as it could have been. It will be a good trading city though, and with the size and KRC next turn, it will build caravans every 2 turns.

Wonders at 500 ad: HG, MPE, Col, MC. It takes a long time to build caravans in republic. I don't have a trading network yet.

Science: 34 discoveries. (only one library built, no university).

Sorry, no images of the map please. DoM

500ad Late SSC

I hope these pictures work. Since the upload button didn't work today, I had to create an msn group to show the pictures. Unfortunately, I can't show the pictures directly in the post then.
