GOTM100 - First Spoiler

Thanks T-x, that's a pretty convincing argument.

Well, my game is going peculiarly. I decided to give 20K a shot and try to go to war for leaders. I haven't managed to do that very well, and I've done some very strange things along the way, but at present (I'm about half-way through the MA) I'm still sticking with 20K.

After learning lit, I had to decide between a library and the GLib first. I decided to build the library first. I really regret this decision; I lost the GLib by 3 turns. There were no other wonders available. GOTM Staff had a monopoly on monarchy but wouldn't trade for everything I had. I put the game away for a while, and then got distracted by real life. When I got back to the game, I tried again to get monarch, by maximizing commerce. Shifting a high commerce tile to a less-corrupt town suddenly made the deal almost good enough. So I sold all my barracks. Still not enough. All I had left were my temple and library. I sold the library and then the temple, had enough to buy monarchy, which I then sold around to get math and a bunch of money. I completed the HG with shields already in the bin while I revolted and then rushed the library and temple. This was probably not worth it. However, if the library had been enough, it would have been, and after selling the library and not getting monarchy it made sense to sell the temple, too. If that hadn't been enough I'd probably have quit, especially since I'm going to be short on time as it is.

I revolted to monarchy, as republic was looking to be a long way off and I thought I'd be at war a lot. I got a 1 turn anarchy, which has made me think about a second revolution, but I haven't done anything about it, and I probably won't, even though the lack of commerce is a pain.

When I learned construction I forgot to switch my marketplace prebuild to a colossus; this delayed things a bit, too. It won't be a big deal in the end, though, as I've had a lot of time with no culture to build, and I would have built the market while waiting.

Barbs have caused me a lot of problems. My donsigs seem to have a lot of trouble with them, but I've gotten a several to elite status. My expansion has been, as usual, painfully slow.

I've had several wars, but by the end of the AA none of them had been real.
