The fastest way to do the same thing is open your domestic advisor (F1) then double click on a city.

The "Home" key selects and centers the map on the closest city. The "Insert" key gets you in the city screen of the nearest city. Apart from the domestic advisor I don't think that there's a more direct way to get to a specific city though.
