Graphics problem

Ok, I'm having a problem with some graphics in Conquests; for instance all pop up windows appear as purple screens with some random icons in the background but the text is still visible. Also the lower left map is completely distorted as is all info in the lower right box.

I was experiencing the Code 28 problem but solved it thanks to the sticky in the forum (btw Thanks!) but I'm now stuck with this issue and haven't found a solution to it browsing the forums. I did see someone who had similar issues but they were able to unistall/reinstall and everything was fine. I've tried 3 times and no change.

I'm running Vista (tried it in compatability mode with XP) with a NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics card.

Oh and vanilla/PTW both work perfectly.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Just downloaded and installed Conquest and this is the exact same problem I am having. Fix?

Same problem here. I guess no one has a fix for it. Sux b/c I was looking forward to some classic Civ 3 on my new laptop.

I'm going to try deleting the LSANS.fot file instead of renaming it tonight. If that doesn't work, I'm pretty much at a loss. Maybe changing the resolution setting in the .ini file? That shouldn't matter, though. It would clean up the game, though. Right now it's almost painful to play Vanilla Civ3 especially with my 1080i laptop trying to stretch the 1024x768 game. Is no one else trying to fix this or have the last 2 posters just given up on C3C and just playing Civ3?

You can add a line to conquests .ini file to tell it to use your desktop resolution rather than 1024x768. I don't know if that will stop the purple window issues, but at least it will use a resolution that you know works on your PC and not stretch it on a widescreen monitor.

You need to add this to conquests.ini:
KeepRes=1

Mine is added towards the end, just after it records the latest save and scenario used.

I tried using the KeepRes=1 in the ini file, but that didn't work. I saw more of the game screen, but it still looked a little stretched. The purple windows and skewed map still occurred, too. I have no idea why this happens but I've basically chalked it up as a $15 loss (for Conquests). I'm not even sure I want to play Civ3 anymore. The KeepRes seems to only show more map (kind of like a zoom out), but the game is still stretched making it undesirable to play.

This may have something to do with the LSANS.fot problem that many people were having perhaps in conjunction with the newer video cards.

Thanks for the suggestion Furiey, but I might have to stick with Civ4 (rats, i was looking forward to ICS technique!)

Any other suggestions out there?
