Limit 1 Facepalm Per Turn
This one has been rattling around in my mind for a while, thought I'd post what I have in mind and see what ideas will come up:
This is to have an 8th type of GP, a Great Diplomat. GGs are made with land XP, GAds are made with water XP, and GDs are made with peace points.
You get:
- 10 peace points per turn if you are NOT in a war started by yourself (CS or civ), and NOT in a war where you were offered peace with no demands against you (besides CS peace).
- 1 peace point per turn for each DoF
- Someone else taking you to war doesn't directly grant peace points, but possibly you do get some if their units are in your territory; this may be unnecessary but further rewards small empires on defense.
- Peace point acquisition freezes for a few turns after taking a city (unless taking it back) or bullying a city state.
- minus 2 peace points per turn for each occupied city without a courthouse (maybe minus 1 for puppets?)
- Not really necessary, but maybe gain a small number of peace points per unit sold
Get enough peace points for a GD; the next will take more peace points. They should take a lot of points to generate. Otherwise, no one will want to start a war and that's not my intention. It's meant to give help smaller civs that can successfully defend their lands, without overshadowing the usefulness of a successful war.
GD abilities:
- Use in an allied CS to annex the CS (like Austria's ability). If OP, require gold spend or a large lead in influence, and\or the CS's units disappear or cost gold to keep on a unit-by-unit basis.
- use to create a site by the name of "Summit" or something.
- My first thought is the summit gives 2 GA, 2GE, 2GM, and 2GS points when worked on, if that's a possible yield.
- It could also slow down the decay of nearby CS influence within a large range; the closer it is the more is slows down the decay.
- A final idea (and this would most likely be too cheesy to work) would to make the summit also convert any enemy units adjacent to it to your side on the turn it's created.
Now I don't want to over-encourage peace with this GP, I like the wars in this game. Just throwing this out there to give a sort of limited bonus for playing nice. I don't want to make it super-powerful, though the ideas above might sound that way. All the stuff above is just a bunch of ideas that haven't been balanced.
Anyway, throw out your ideas if you have some, they are all welcome
