loads of info of the new grand theft auto game load of details have emerged of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - and the city will be over twice the size of the one featured in predecessor GTA3. Not only that, players will now be able to wander round indoor environments, including casinos, hotels and discos.

The choice of weaponry has been increased to a total of 40 tools of destruction, while the combat system has also been tweaked so that, when you're auto-targeting, the camera doesn't swing round in the annoying fashion in did in GTA3.

Equally generous is the selection of different cars featured in the game, now up to 120 - 70 more than GTA3. Included among the new vehicles are rideable motorbikes.

The game's engine is, predictably, being reworked and should ensure there's far less slow-down along with added particle effects and lighting effects (cars, for instance, will have far more reflective surfaces and shadowing).

Of course, there are loads of other neat touches too. We're particularly taken with the idea that you can actually hide behind pedestrians to avoid gunfire. Harsh - but funny.

The missions themselves will offer greater variety and we can expect more sub-missions (delivering pizza is one), while improved AI will allow for more intelligent gangs and police.

Finally, a whopping 10 hours of music will feature in the game, including 90 licensed songs played across the 10 radio stations. It's an eclectic mix, to say the least, with tracks from Judas Priest, Grandmaster Flash, Kool and the Gang, Cutting Crew and walking haircut catastrophes Flock of Seagulls.

It's all sounding very nice indeed and, if the game manages to pull off the host of improvements that are being touted for it, Vice City will clearly be absolutely fantastic. This is going to be huge so rest assured we'll be bringing you plenty of updates before its release on 22 October.

i cant wait till it comes out

when will it come out, roughly that is? Because i need to know when to by myself a new video card. I couldn't run GTA 3 but if there is a game that will let me exist in a different world and be able to do all that good stuff, like blowing people up, and running them over, driving a cab, delivering pizza etc. This may be worth the investment on a new 3d card. Damn you Voodoo damn you.

Here's a link to all the info that is known about the game and some screen shots http://216.127.80.23/~cyberfal/gta3vc/
This game is looking great and I can't wait to get it. I am so glad that police will chase after others and that you can shoot out tyres

 GTA3 actually ran pretty good on my machine which is almost 3 years old (with a few spare extras inserted).

Heckavafun game too. The indoor elements should add the only thing I missed (and perhaps motorbikes).

Delivering pizza sounds odd though... I did it in the real world for 2 years, why the heck would I want to do it then? Of course, having the option of robbing the customer and running over their mailbox is slightly appealing...

This game looks freakin' awesome. When I got GTA3 (on PS2) I couldn't stop playing it. Now I've beat the game and have mastered the secret of flying the Dodo. Will there be planes to fly in Vice City? We can only hope.

Rockstar games just recently put out a fake Vice City website at
http://www.kentpaul.com/. This masquerades as an eighties nostalgia site, since the game takes place in the eighties, but has information on Vice City and new pics. Apparently Kent Paul is a character in the game. I wonder if they'll have any familiar characters like 8-ball, Salvatore Leone, Donald Love, or Ray? If you've played almost to the end of GTA3, there's a mission where you have to get Ray to the airport. As you drop him off, he yells, "See you in Miami, kid!" This could just be a hint that the next game setting will be in Miami, or you might actually meet his character.

My brother flew the Dodo for 3000 seconds or so...

Bleepers! I can hardly wait for Vice City for my little PS2... *drool* I prefer flying the tank meself.

*drool* I want to play GTA 3! But I'm in Hong Kong and my good PC is back in Seattle. :( Only 5 more days!

A city twice the size of GTA 3's? OH BABY. They're really testing the limits of the PS2. Hopefully, if it's crossed over to the PC, they'll have devised a clever game engine that can do all that. :D

From what I've heard - no planes, but you can fly a helicopter!!! :)

Where did you here that? I heard that there was going to be at least one typed of plane, a plane that could land on water.

According to the game's official site it has been confirmed that Lazlow, Toni, and Fernando will all be featured in GTA:VC. Lazlow will host Vice City's rock station, V-Rock; Toni will host pop station, Flash FM; and Fernando will host emotive anthems station, Emotion 98.3. It's great that Fernando will make a return to radio. ("Listen, if your husband, if your daddy, he no happy, send him to me Fernando! Cinco cinco cinco, nueve dos, nueve dos! It WILL be a miracle! I guarantee!")

I've heard that the helicopter is definitely a usable vehicle, along with the motorcycle (cool!) and a golf cart. Sounds like fun!

Here's a pic of the protagonist of Vice City, Tommy Vercetti, astride one of Miami's motorcycles:

I am so glad that Lazlow is back. He was hillarious in GTA3. I hope he gets to make his witty comments on the Rock Station like he did on Chatterbox. It makes a lot of sense that Lazlow is hosting the Rock station as he said in GTA3 'I was kicked off the rock station'

Saying that this game is now out in the US, somebody here must have it. Does anyone have any new info they would like to share. I have to wait 7 days (6 if Gameplay.com does what it normally does.)

Just picked it up today for PS2.Will post back...if I can stop playing it :D

Thursday for me if Gameplay pulls through. At least its only a week delay between the US release and our release date, a lot better than some other games. I just wish they would release them at the same time. Isn't Rockstar North (New name of DMA) a Scottish company? It should be released earlier. Anyway please post as much info as possible.

well just a few hours of play and it is great.I'm having a little trouble with the camera angle. The one I got used to in the PC version is just slightly lower and its a bit tricky seeing ahead.Maybe I should slow down?:D

Anyhoo..much the same as 3.Way more vehicles allready.Alot more and detailed cut scenes so far.Story line is good also. You are trying to find the culprits that ripped some blow and the buy money. But first you need to do the local outfits some "favors"I havn't done that much yet,but allready 3 "hits".These Miami boys don't mess around.

The cops are "smarter".They follow you into side areas and other places you used to be able to lie low in.

The bikes are..well....not too exciting really.Course I havn't done the dirt bikes or any crazy jumps and whatnot yet.

Soundtrack is GREAT.Lots of good tunes.Lazlo is back as DJ of the rock station with other djs on 2 talk stations.Of course talk radio and commercials are very funny.

lots more to see yet :D
