Gypsy Kings - pitboss session (closed game)

Hello everybody, I'm back.

As to the roster order, I thought we should follow Munro's original order in time of war :

1 adrianJ Inca
2 Munro Greece
3 C63 England
4 da_Vinci Zululand
5 Ronnie1 Persia
6 oyzar Maya
7 toller pretzl Native American
8 hellwitch Maya

That's why I don't understand that aj wants to move after hw. But probably my view is too simple.

I agree with this turn order. So long as we stick with this during times of war things should be ok shouldn't they?

I mentioned earlier, but I'll say again now - I will be away for most of this month. From Sunday the 7th - Monday the 29th Munro will be playing all of my moves. I'll still have intermittent access to MSN/email/forums, just not the game itself. So I'll still try to keep up with SGOTM8 :)

There is something wrong. I can't connect to the host this morning!!!! I tried 3-4 times.

And IMO aj you can make your double move in case your units wont go between 2 defensive tiles without giving me the chance to attack them on open ground (or at least to see where there are going to) andin case you don't use them for attacking!

Yes - sorry, the server blue screened and I was rebooting.

Surprised it took that long though - looks like there might be a separate problem where the server won't accept new logins while I'm updating the Message of the Day (ironically enough, with an apology for the earlier downtime)...

Let me know if you are still having any problems.

Edit: I think tp means the auto-update on the server. That did cause a problem before, but that wasn't the cause this time.

Folks, I have moved the pitboss game to a different server on my network.
  • If you connect via Hamachi, please connect to the new 'Pitboss host' IP address in the Gypsy Kings network.
  • If you connect using my public IP, just continue using the same connection details.
dV, Ronnie and I have tested it out and all looks to be working normally but obviously if you see any problems let me know.

It's good to have a clear playing order. But it's too bad that the turn now ends everytime a few hours after I have gone to work. This means that I have to move between getting up out of bed and going to work. Not ideal.

I wonder, if we make one turn last a little longer, can we stay in a pattern where the turns end around 10 PM GMT ?

The problem is really only that munro usually can only play once during the day and that time is the middle of the night euro time... I have this problem in another game as well... When he plays for both him and aj its easy to see where the problem comes from...

If we manage to make the turns run from 10 to 10 PM GMT instead of 10 to 10 AM, this won't affect Munro's playing time at all. Nor any other player, I think.

We would go just as fast (slow) as now, but hw and me, who are in the back of the playing order, would have more time to play and discuss.

TP has it right, which is the same point that I have been making in oobs 4th (the other game oyzar referred to). If one player, in the oobs 4th case Munro (but applies to me at times as well) has one window of 4 to six hours in which to play, and is first in a war, then if the turn flips a few hours after the end of that window, he is screwed. if Munro's play window is 6 pm to midnight US EDT, and the turn flips at 3 AM US EDT, you can see the problem.

The solution is to have the turns flipping at a set time of day, as TP suggests. What the ideal time is, will need some discussion.

Or, we can just set the timer to 48 hrs. With no inactive players (and teammates covering for absences) we rarely expect the timer to actually run out anyway. This should allow everyone to get back 'in sync' with their preferred playing time (while still keeping to the right playing order) and assuming that this will not vary too much, we will still get a new turn every 24 hours.

With BtS it's easy to change the turn timer on the fly, so shall we try this out?

If so, I propose
- changing next turn timer to 72 hours, for synchronization
- everyone please aim to log on and play at their preferred 'regular' time (or as close to one as you have) while still preserving play order where required of course
- subsequent turns will be 48 hour timer (but on the understanding that we will all still log in every day or arrange for a sub where needed).

Thoughts?

72 / 48 hours timer sounds ok, doesn't really matter when timer flips that way...

good by me

Hum i can't connect. An in civstats says:
The uploader is currently not connected, so stats might be out of date.

The pitboss host is not on hamachi so indeed there seems to be some problem...
