This game will be the best game ever. I mean best.
Comes out tomorrow, I have mine on steam, so I can it in around 9 hours I think :D.

I am disappointed in Gamespot 9.2 though :(.

plan to buy it on my lunch break tomorrow  only problem is the girlfriend is coming round tomorrow night, and I've got courseworks for Friday....... will severely lag my playing time :(

I own it :( just can't play it. Courseworks bite. Can't wait till the weekend and I'll just go nuts with it :)

I've played afew minutes of it on a friends PC. The graphics on the faces are amazing.

Thats about all I can tell ya from the few minutes I played.

Unfortunatley I probably won't be able to get this game becuase my PC isn't up to it.:(

Using the gravity gun to fire large circular blades (the kind you'd find in a sawmill ;)) down some stairs when several creatures are trying to come up them is fun. :satan:

Well, my 256 MB, 2.4 GhZ, RAEDON 9200SE runs it perfectly smooth and medium graphics. :)

Yes, just go ahead and gloat, why don't you? :ack:

Much as I would like to get this game, I am NOT going to spend that much money upgrading my computer simply to play one game. My current system just barely meets the requirements, which is to say, it wouldn't actually be able to run it. :(

I barely make it. I am upgrading in a month or so, my current system is so choppy on games, low line.

I played it, beat it in one day, was very dissapointed. Too short+bad campaign, general bad taste left in mouth after playing campaign. Multiplayer however redeems it to a certian extent, although the sword is over powered...

Sword? What sword? Are you sure you haven't confused yourself with Halo 2? This is the Half-Life 2 thread, and I'm pretty sure there aint no sword there.

ain't no sword that I saw.

Having (finally) gotten my coursework done, I've played it and I totally love it. The graphics are good (not as good as Doom3 though) and the engine is just simply mind blowing. I think they intentionally put in the Gravity gun just so they could show off what it could do.

I love the Preacher Guy, he rocks :)

I'll probolby be downloading it tonight I hope everyting goes well.

You have a G/F and your worried about playing a game? Sheesh! If I had one I'd tell freeman and co to wait city 17 will still be thier tommorow night. If you ignore her she may not be.

 I was "semi-joking" when I said that. My girlfriend was coming round so I could help her write her Personal Statement (I'm a better typer). and trust me, when you play the game, you will realise, girlfriends can wait :p

Got it yesterday and beat it today! I was a little disappointed in the fact that it didn't seem as long as the first Half Life. Of course I had to stop every 3 hours in the first one 'cause I kept getting sick from the lights etc. And I hope to replay Half Life 2 again once I get a full time job and money for a computer upgrade. My computer can barely play it. A 1.3 Ghz Duron, 356 MB RAM and a 9000 Radeon, it lags when there's many objects on screen but it really lags when I get into those street battles. And I'm proud to say that Half Life 2 is the first FPS singleplayer game that I completed without the use of a walkthrough. Although it really really REALLY sucks that I have to connect to the internet just to play the game.

you need to enjoy this game. it cannot be enjoyed if you want to finsih it in day. enjoy the graphic, and sound, and story.

I've totally fallen in love with the game engine, its just awesome. And the peacher in the Ravenholm or whatever its called is just awesome.

Reminds me of the quote from "Dusk Till Dawn"

"Now which are you, a faithless preacher or a mean, ************* servant of God?"

That guy is most certainly the second one

Am having great fun with HL2. My flatmate bought it the day it was released and we've been cooing over it since then. The engine is amazing, and even on the lowest settings (we pity his poor computer :p) it looks amazing.

Have you played Counterstrike: Source yet? I don't particularly like the game, but it is quite fun with the new tweaks. Can't wait for Day of Defeat: Source though.

Anyone care to give a more detailed player review?

What's changed from HL1?

Pros

Great combat; tons of gameplay variety; gravity gun is worth the price of admission; gorgeous graphics and forgiving hardware requirements.

Cons

Story leaves a few too many gaps unfilled; no multiplayer beyond the updated Counter-Strike; poor launch for Steam.

From gamespy. Obviously they have to give cons to anygame, no matter how small the cons are.

Some random screenshots from the web.
