It has come to my attention that in Civ5's latest patch it's impossible to build a harbor if you don't have at least a city on another island. I found this pretty annoying when i'd like to to get a trade route to some other cities across a (big) inner sea.
I'd need in my case to build a *very* long road running through CS and other civs in order to connect them to my home ...

Well, on the screenshot you haven't researched compass yet which is a requirement for harbours

I've definitely built harbors while on 1 continent. I only had 2 out of 8 cities without harbors, actually.

Yeah ... actually i just noticed that myself when (eventually) hitting compass. Silly me
Was too busy racing to keshik to bother with naval tech
Anyway thanks for the pointer
