Harder with 7 civilizations?

Is it harder or easier with more or less opponents in Civdos? I always play with 7 civilizations...

Depends. More civs mean more wars and more focus on production. While less civs means less contact (and therefore wars) and more focus on trade. I prefer 7 civs but playing with 3 or whatever can be quite fun.

I've never played with less than 7.
[Whith less than 7], I think it would be easier because less wars.
(I'm not good at wars, I usually try to maintain peace at all costs, till i reach advanced flight)

Less wars with more civs? Placing seven angry men in a small box is going to generate more fights/conflict then placing three men.. no?

On Emperor level the hardest option is 3 civilizations, 'cause AI players develop much faster when they don't waste time fighting with each other. Each AI player will usually have greater expansion and scientific development, so it'll be harder to beat it. Not always, of course, but in most cases it seems to happen so.

I think the hardest is when there are 5 AI around you, and 1 on a isolated great island.

that happens normally anyway on earth.. if you play 7 civ and is on the africa/euraisian contienent, and the aztecs are by themselves, it's a really tough game

I always play with 7. No reason why, it just seems like there should be more civs duking it out. Although it is tougher when one has an island to build up, defend, etc. So in that case, fewer civs might be tougher on harder levels.

Hmm, for some reason in my games it happens conversely. American usually win.

Of course 7 is the max. The question is, do you play with 3? 5? 7?
Is it harder when you have 7 or 3? Or somewhere in between?
