Has anyone created a "faster production" MOD? I am currently playing on standard game speed and I can't believe it how long it takes build anything. I mean its been almost 200 turns now and I only have 4 cities and something like 5 or 6 army units! Plus lots and lots of province improvements of course. Plus many workers and some wonders.

Has anyone created a Mod that makes production faster somehow without making tech research faster as well? I think it would make the gameplay so much better! :D

Did you bother to look in the mods section? There are 2, I am using the "Increased Tile Yields" one right now (browsing forums ingame between turns thanks to Steam <3) and it works great. The AI is also MUCH more effective with it, though it can still be stupid with unit movement, sheer numbers will make up for it. They are kind of "use at your own risk" right now though, make sure to read the part about backups :P

I posted this before, and I think it's very important to consider this for your own well-being:

We know so little about synergies and advanced strategies yet. I don't think the balance now is necessarily perfect, but at least the devs had a plan they developed over many years. While even a team of specialists can fail after years of work and thought, they had a reason to change e.g. the yields.

I can only warn people to install such crude, early mods before we have a mature understanding of economic strategies. Maybe we'll produce at three times the current speed when we learn how to use some less obvious combinations!

I don't think people knew about the awesomeness of communist caste system workshops 2 days after the release of civ4...

Also, double production could screw up with other parts of the game. The AI might not be able to handle it, or the much higher unit count could destroy your economy with high upkeeps. You could be forced to build more ressource-less units because you didn't increase the number of strat. ress., which could destroy the combat balance. You could end up having too high upkeeps, leaving you no gold for other uses like buying tiles, rushing production, bribing city states. This could cause these gameplay elements to not work properly. There's a ton of stuff that could go wrong with makeshift balance mods!

Something to consider, but at worst you have to reisntall the game. As I said I'm using it and as for the AI screwing it, it's actually MUCH BETTER, I'm not even going to describe just how much. Also it fixes the ridiculousness of building farms on deer (for example) because there is no point in camping them (2 vs 1 food, etc etc.)

Anyways, if you take precautions, dont mind potentially reinstalling the game, hate researching 3 techs in the time it takes to build an archer, and don't want to wait for a patch, it's worth a shot.
