This just in, Fearless Leader renounces stance on Death Penalty!!

Sources quote him as saying to Border Patrol:
After considerable thought on this matter, I have decided that I no longer support capital punishment. Your argument is unassailable. Without realizing it, I have been supporting capital punishment with arguments that attack from a relativistic viewpoint, leaning on the legislated establishment of death as the prescribed penalty for a certain crime.

Congratulations, you have proven in an open forum that I have an open mind.

Observers said they felt the pillars of heaven shake as FL made this stunning decree.

Good for you FL2. It takes a big man to admit to (may I use the term) 'being wrong'? Not that I disssagre or not, as my personal opinion isn't important in this thread. And to be able to have your mind swayed by anothers POV shows that as you said you have an open mind. Way to go!

FL2, Hell sounds pleasantly tropical and with all those gorgeous women with 'relatively loose morals', almost a paradise, if that's not an oxymoron. As I've said before I like your chutzpah, but your thespian skills need further work

So, are you serious about this, FL? Given previous bouts of extreme sarcasm, I think you have to admit, it's hard for us to be completely sure.

Assuming for now that you are serious, I sincerely thank and applaud you for being willing to admit this.

But I don't yet see what the switch was. What was so relative about your former reasoning? How does anti-DP fit into absolutism?

FearLess,

If you're truly serious about this then you're a better man than I. Not only to be open minded enough to CHANGE your mind.. but also to admit it to us.

Welcome to the "dark side".

I am dead serious. My main reason for supporting the DP was that it was the law of the land. "Vengence is mine, said the lord." Well, who am I to argue with God? Huh?

Absolutely no sarcasm intended or implied. Take everything I said about the DP and ****-can it, cause it's all relativist bullfeathers.

OK, tell me now, FL2, what are you supporting this "DP" on and why are these guys so surprized about you calling yourself a bullshitter?

You're young, so I'll humor you. DP, since you haven't been paying attention (or reading any of the previous posts) is the Death Penalty. Relativism, that thing I was unconsciously supporting DP with, is an 'anything goes if there's a law to support it' worldview, that I do not support. Since I cannot have my cake and eat it too, I have rejected the DP, as not to do so would be hypocrisy.

The fact that I am willing to reject the lie I liked over the truth that I did not is what they are expressing surprise over. It is a rare thing, and most will not do it.

Are you referring to bacterium that acquire a trait, pass it on to their offspring, and continue to be the same species, not transforming from E. Coli to botulism or staphylococcus?

What about them? When someone shows me a bacterium that transforms into a whole new bacterium, I'll have something to be surprised about. Until then, you're just doing the bacterial equivalent of saying that a St. Bernard isn't a glorified wolf. Splitting hairs isn't going to do anything but underscore the untenability of your side's position.

Where's the speciation, man? Where are these extra chromosome coming from that turn a simple creature into a complex one? Oh? You haven't got any? Huh. So, are you willing to change your stance on evolution yet?

So, Blofeld...

Do you plan to address a single one of the many very valid questions I just posed, a WEEK ago, or shall I call the Shriners and get a parade permit from the City Council? Not to mention calling Wall St. and asking them to save up some ticker tape...

Sorry, Fearless, but I've been too busy to do the kind of real research I need to do in order to properly continue this discussion. But you might want to upgrade the Shriners' status to Defcon 1... I've definitely been conflicted on the issue recently.

You can wallow in the fact I no longer assume evolution to be a given, but that's the best I can do for now

. I'll keep you posted.

If I have managed to shatter an assumption, I will call that a victory. I suppose since you no longer 'know' how life got here, that makes you a bio-agnostic, eh?

Now all I gotta do is turn you fully to the 'dark side'. Although that is hardly an apropos comparision, given that we live in a social climate where it is far easier and quicker to accept evolution. You don't get harassed or called a religious nut-job for believing in evolution, even though the leap of faith is way longer.
