Hi everybody. I'm kind of new to civ, but not. Anyhow, I can't seem to really get a good strategy down to get the game off to a good start. So, I was wonderin, if maybe some of you guys could like, give me a few tips on how to start a game. Thanks for your time.

When you finish reading the Cracker article this one is also excellent for starting a game:

It is a step by step guide from 4000 BC onwards so you can quickly build a flourishing empire with many cities. (It says Deity but works even better at lower levels). I have been playing for 6 months until I read this article by Bamspeedy and found that it improved my opening game immensely.

Another useful article for beginners is Bamspeedys guide to getting to modern age at Chieftain (OTH If if you read his deity settlers guide then you might not need this ):

BTW If you stay at Chieftain you get bad habits, game is subtly different at higher levels. Chieftain is really good for learning the mechanics of the game though.

Also, go to the Succession Game forum and search for any thread with the word "Training" in its title. Sirp, Sulla, Zed-F, Sirian, et al have played some very instructive games in the past.
