Help: Game hangs in Conquests multiplayer after end of turn??

I'm playing the Worldmap from El Mencey with 2 friends over the net.

In the last turns we got serious problems with the game. It hangs often after the end of one turn with 100% cpu time and "No Response" in the task manager till the players get kicked out.
I know that the computation of the new turn takes time, particularly with a large map like El Mencey's, but this can't be normal.

Can you offer any solution tips to fix the problem (if you need information on the sys specs please ask)??
 
Make sure you have the latest patch, otherwise, I bet it is just calculating. What year/turn is it? The later the game, the more time it takes. A 362 x 325 map is hard on single player, let alone multiplayer where it has multiple connections. Make sure you exit out of extra programs so the connection is as fast as possible. The wait is most likely normal, no matter what the task manager says. Be patient. (I know it's hard! :) ).

Turn 320 A.D., had the same problem with 170 A.D.
We are three people and have Skype in conference running, no other programs.

We always waited 2-3 minutes, but the game still hangs with 100% cpu load and "No Response" in the task manager.
Sometimes after that time, one player is ready but gets the message that the other players have left the game.

Is there a solution for this problem so that we can finish our game. This problem is really annoying when it occurs every 10-20 turns.
