Help? I can't use nukes!

Hi,
I was playing Civ IV. I did the Manhattan Project, all the research, etc etc and can now finally make ICBM.

The problem is, I cant' drop them! I hit the little red button and choose a tile, but nothing happens. Why is this?

Any suggestions would be appreciative.

hmm... it could be the city has SDI, which stops ICBM.

Have you tried aiming the nuke to some other cities?

Doesnt sound like SDI defense. Surprisingly- Im apparently one of the few whose nuke has been shot down by SDI.

The missile launches, and the SDI laser fires from the city, and shoots down the ICBM over the city. It looks pretty cool. Might want to set up a situation where you can try that.

My first & only time was when I was stopping a Spaceship flight by nuking the capital. Sitting there smugly watching my launch of destruction when a light beam flashed out, and zapped my missile. WHAT the hell was that? Game says Missile shot down by SDI. You bastards. Ill get you for this. Someday. Maybe. Rats.

Alright, first of all, welcome to the forums! Seeming as we're talking about Civ IV in this thread, but you posted in the Civ Rev forum, a mod might want to move this, but I'll still help you out.

A nuke can only be dropped on a city. So when you say that you chose a tile, was it a city tile? Chosing a city tile is the only way to drop a nuke.

Secondly, did you have it explored? You have to have the area explored to drop a nuke there.

You also have to be at war with the civ you're targeting.

Make sure you (and your allies) have no units in the adjacent target square.
