I saw that there was a thread for this already, but I'm going to post again nonetheless since there are millions on the Internet who can help me.

Right out of the box, I wanted to play Civ4 multiplayer, and of course, it can't find a server on Gamespy or anywhere else where I can play with other people! My Civ3 didn't have this problem whatsoever.

I'm behind a firewall AND a router, but as someone already said, I'm sure that the game creators didn't intend on doing a whole bunch of modifications to play online.

Gamespy doesn't find the game on my computer at all, nor can I connect through the "multiplayer" option in the game's main screen!

The question is simple, how the hell do I find multiplayer sessions to fully enjoy the game? Is it a port issue? Is multiplayer no longer supported without connecting directly to an IP address?

Basically, making a new account and clicking login does nothing at all. It isn't a firewall, router or port issue. It's a lack of a server issue.

HELP ME PLAY MULTIPLAYER!! ;)

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and it's still the same thing. It times out on the login screen and doesn't connect to anything. I then checked Gamespy Arcade and there are no rooms for Civilization IV. How does one go about playing multiplayer? (I guess people are sick of answering this question, but it's difficult.)

the vanilla server went down on me last night i havent been able to reconnect since so I doubt its a problem on your end

No, this has been happening since I purchased it, and the "final build" was included in the install (the most recent patch) so I doubt it's a patch issue. Basically, Gamespy doesn't support Civ4 multiplayer anymore which is why I can't find the server most likely. Are there any other ways of having a multiplayer game over the Internet other than Gamespy?
