Please help me I really want 2 play multiplayer but i dunno what version i have i think its classical i got cedrics patch but now it just gives me an error message "XDaemon.dll" missing please try to reinstall.

I reinstalled the patch, nothing changed.

What can I do?

Incidentally if there is nothin i can do about it should i uninstall cedrics patch? Cos i cant play normally either.

oh and i don't have the cd cos it works without, could this affect it? :saiyan:

If you go to the Game Menu and then choose game options, it shoud say which version you have along the title bar of the window.

Look I don't really need this, just can someone please tell me how to uninstall cedrics patch cos its stoppin me from playing normally off the web. :rant: :die:

I was hoping it would help other people to keep from possibly making the same mistake as you. There's not much worse than trying to put a patch on the wrong version.

I guess you also don't want me to remind people to back-up their original files before trying to run any patch.

Well, let's see. There could also be a readme file in the directory that might be able to tell you what version you have, in hopes that you can be sure you are using the correct patch.

You could always PM Cedric himself and ask, or go to his website and see what it says. Are you sure you downloaded all the required parts of the patch? and that it's the correct patch?

It might also be possible that the files aren't in the right directory so you are getting the missing files error.

For some reason the XDaemon.dll likes to disappear during some installs, not sure why it is in the zips hosted here and my site and also in in the exe's but here is a copy just extract it to your civ 2 folder.
(it is also located in the downloads section of my site)
