As I was a bit annoyed by the pack-in maps provided, I decided to make my own. I created a map that focuses on the North American area (with a little bit of the South American continent as well). Starting with the Western Hemisphere map, I wiped it and drew in the continents, then added the terrain, resources, natives, etc. I added all four colonies as well, however, I noticed that when I was playing it, the other colonies would not make landfall, and would just disappear after a while. I finally got so annoyed that I just opened the WB and founded settlements for them just so that I could play the game. Why are they disappearring?

Also, I noticed under the map tools in the WB, if you select the territories tab, you will find 4 icons, each more or less the same, and they list as Europe East, Europe South, etc. I realize that they are what is used to paint the border boxes (that allows you to send ships to Europe). However, there is nothing to differentiate them or indicate that they are associated with a particular Colony. I just don't get it? I suspect that they may have something to do with my problem above, but I am clueless.

Somebody please help me!

In Regards to the Europe territories, as far as I can tell they are basically just the High Seas terrain from Col 1. Just paint the eastern side of your map with Europe (east) and the west side with Europe (west).

At least, I think that's what you do. It might be the other way round.

I'm having another problem, though I haven't done much investigation into what is wrong. I assumed that since Native placement is random by default, I would not have to place natives manually on my map unless I wanted to. However, when I load up my map, there are no natives!

Admittedly, this is quite useful, since I'm still working on it and don't want to have to wipe the natives each time I load it up, but I'm not sure what I'll do when it's finished, though manual placement was something I was planning to add post-release.

I changed the Huge Western Hemisphere .... and running into trouble: My Galleon won't move out of european Port and Europeans dont settle, they just came there to cruise.

henryMCVII - that sounds like exactly what I am experiencing. I figured out the problem with moving the ship out of Europe... sort of. If you look at your military screen, in game, and find the ship that is stuck, you will notice that the indicator points to where the ship will appear onto the screen. You will want to find that area and make sure that the border box is present there. Still, i can't figure out why the europeans won't settle though.

Ok, thank you, i'll take a look.

I played until turn 100 or so... then opened the Worldbilder: the Spanish caravel is still cruising around with both units on board, dutch and french ships are no longer on map...

According to the XML it's Europe East that's the one closest to Europe. Try sticking a load of that in and seeing if it changes things!

Attach the map, and I'll fix it.

Here it is! This is actually a rework that I did using the smaller Western Hemisphere map as its base. The map is not 100% accurate, but I like the look of it. I have not tested this map yet, so I don't know if it has the same issue as my original attempt (which I saved over). In that map, I had moved the starting locations of the ships. In this one, I left them alone to see if that has anything to do with it.
