Well, because of some reasons I had to completely reinstall my computer together with the system. Now I have Windows XP Professional media center edition. I downloaded Ffh but when I started it, I only saw the background and the interface, buttons and menu box didn't appear! But I could click on the places where the buttons should be and they reacted (I made it to launch a game but than it crashed).
I alredy reinstalled the mod but it still doesn't work!
Can anyone one help? Other mods work fine so far I am only encountering this problem with any version of Ffh.

Are you sure have the mod or only the patch to the mod?

Have you patched you BTS/Civilisation?

Yes, I checked it several times but it was the 'real' version. I tried to start ffh patched and unpatched and Beyond the sword is surely updated to 3.13

I am having the same problem of all buttons and the menu missing when I try playing the Age of Ice scenario. BTS is patched to 3.13.

Here is a screenshot:

This is all I can see but the buttons react if I click on them leading to a crush when I start a game.

The solution to your problem is to edit your registry, which you should only do if you know what you´re doing!

I suppose you own the Civ4 Complete edition, which I have bought myself. Unlike the separate CDs, the complete edition "forgets" to register the directory in which the interface data is stored, thus some Mods are unable to find it.

To correct this under WinXP, click Start->Run; Type "regedit" (without the quotation marks). Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, FIRAXIS GAMES. There you should see the entries for all versions. Check "Sid Meier's Civilization 4", it has a text entry "INSTALLDIR" which holds the current installation directory path. This has to be added to the other versions (Warlords, Beyond the Sword), too. Click on either of those, chose "New"->"String Value" and name it "INSTALLDIR". In the data field you need to enter the full path to the respective game directory, just like it was for standard civ4.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your help, but the problem isn't there. I don't have Civ4 Complete but Civ4 and Beyond the Sword separate. I did what you proposed, but the INSTALLDIR was already there for civ4 and beyond the sword.

Anyways, thank you

Do you have the latest DirectX ?

Run the prog as administrator, it might help.

I had this interface missing while playing Age of Ice (I'm using Vista), and I had to run the game as administrator. Then it worked.

It seems that your problem is similar (even if you XP)

@onedreamer: the latest directx automatically installs together with the beyond the sword expansion, doesn't it?

@fabmp: do you mean that I should be the computeradministrator? Because I am the compadministrator or did I misunderstand you?

You should be the admin, he says

Yes exactly.

With Vista, you have the choice to run any program as Administrator (right-click).

I can't remember with XP if you can do that (probably). I know that with Vista it solved my problem.

I will never understand my computer. I really made all what came to my head and followed all your instructions but the problem was my graphic card. I was sure that I installed the driver correctly and did all to make it compatible. But it turned that I missed to install something, which was causing troubles with ffh.
I really feel like an idiot now, making all this fuss.
 :hammer2: :hammer2:

Thank you all for your help and that you took time to help me!
