Ok, i have a problem with my military advisor demanding that we go to war with anyone i try to make a peace treaty/alliance with but have the offer rejected. Due to his oversized ego he cannot take such a refusal as in his eyes people should be so fearfull of us they instantly bend to our will and join with us on a whim!

However, the problem is not his eagerness to conquer the world but the fact that despite being told 'No, we should be kind to our neighbours', by me (the King of all people), he still persists on inciting war! No matter what option i choose or re-negotiation i try to offer he is always there, like a schizophrenic voice, to which i must eventually give in to and decale war upon my proposed allies!

His actions are no longer tolerable and so i must ask the people this: Does anyone know how to keep my military advisor at bay? I know i could just not try to form alliances or peace treaties but then my civilization would suffer, not that its any different when i attempt to form them.

The advisors are really there just for the eye candy...usually I wouldn't listen to them they have realitivley little intelligence. Although in some cases they prove useful.

The problem is that you are forced into declaring war when a deal you propose to another civ is refused? It sounds like you're renegotiating peace, rather than making a new deal. When you want to make a new trade or military alliance or whatever, put the stuff you want to give and receive on the "New" tab, not the "Active" deals tab. Definitely don't mess with your existing peace treaty. So just stick to the "New" deals table, and you should be fine.

If you're renegotiating peace, you're basically saying that you'll go to war unless the deal is accepted. If you try to leave the negotiating table without the peace treaty being accepted, that's when the military advisor shows up to ask if you really want to go to war. I think the other civs will always accept a bargain of peace treaty for peace treaty, so if you do have to renegotiate peace, just have peace treaty on both sides of the table and ask them to accept.

If that's not the problem, then I don't know what's up. Btw, welcome to CFC!

I think we have all failed to understand the question. Clearly "excite" is actually the leader of a North American world power.

Just ignore the advisors. As I like to think of it, they are there for your personal entertainment. :D

Nullspace got it correct in that i was trying to re-negotiate an active peace treaty, when they wouldnt accept i was forced to declare war.

My bad, but im a newbie so :P

This looks like a communication breakdown between you and your military advisor. Just try sitting down and telling him how you feel, youd be suprised how much a little heart to heart can accomplish .
