Help please game keeps freezing

I have no problems with CIV4 until the later areas of the game. Around 1500 or so (when the map crowds) I freeze up every 15-20 mins. I can reboot and then play for another 15-20 mins before freezing again. My computer never reboots on its own or crashes to the desktop. Its always a plain old lock up and nothing responds. Seems like some sort of ram issue to me... like its being filled and not cleared... shrug... anyhow:

My setup:

Civ 1.52
6600 GT Nvidia
2.7 GHz AMD 64
DFI motherboard Lanparty
1 Gig Mushkin Ram
Raptor HD
SB Audigy 2 Sound Card

I'm pretty computer literate (read: nerd) so I can usually figure this stuff out. I am completely stumped on this one though... so any help would be appreciated.

Same problem here. Sucks to never have finished a game.

I'm having this problem too, with a high end system. The bummer about this is that I actually bought this game and didn't get one of the numerous pirate copies available near where I live. The silence from firaxis is deafening.

When Civ 5 comes out, I might take a walk down to the other shop.
