I'm pretty sure this exists somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it. Most of the names on the Celtic city lists are far too Latinized. This isn't a problem to most, but I have a bit of OCD and it irritates me to no end. I would really appreciate it if someone had a name list that had only Celtic names, or at the very least if someone could find a better name for the capital. "Entremont" sounds downright French. The best I could find was Aquius Sextiae Salluviorum, but that was after the Celts had been evicted from the city later called Entremont. If not a Celtic-sounding name for Entremont, does someone have a Celtic-sounding city that is a legitimate capital? After all, Entremont was only the capital of the Saluvii tribe, one of only many groups of Celtic people. There have to be better capitals.

Well, it depends what type of Celts you want. Mohács, if you want eastern Celts. La Tene is pretty good for Gallic Celts. Dalriada or Gwynedd for British Celts.

Hallstadt, Hallein, Pyrene (ok, rather mythologial), La Tene?
Its my understanding that the Celtic inhabitants themselves didn't call their habitations by those names, but rather modern archaeologists refer to specific populations and according cultures by naming them after the place (in modern names) where major discoveries were made about them. That, I believe, is true of Hallstadt, Hallein, and La Tene. Never heard of Pyrene.

Thanks. Got any more?
Generally Western Celts are preferable, as the Eastern Celts interbred with local Greek and Turkish populations rather speedily, thus diluting their lingual purity. Galatia would suffice for Eastern Celts, I suppose. It all depends on how east you want to go.

Am I on a wild goose chase here? Do adequate records even exist of the ancient Celtic language?

Well, without a written language at all...hardly.

"Pyrene" is from Herodots report about the Celts (the Danube "which has its source among the Celts near Pyrene - - - - - the Celts live beyond the Pillars of Hercules (Gibraltar) next to the Cynesians who are the most Westerly people of Europe".)

halò. ciamar a tha sibh an-diugh? Tha mi gu math ach tha mi sgìth.

Today over 1.2 people speak a celtic language as their native tongue. Manx Gaelic no longer has any native speakers, but Scottish gaelic [Gàidhlig], Welsh [Cymraeg], Irish gaelic [gaelige] and Breton [Brezhoneg] all still have native speakers and are also gaining in popularity.
But instead of just ranting on (I study linguistics) I will make myself useful :)

The following names are in Irish gaelic

BTW:

The player Calgacus made city names replacements, you might ask him, he is also an expert of celtic history.

Just a question regarding this, is there anyway to change the default names of the cities so you don't have to type in the names of the cities every time you build one?

A question on the question. I too would love to use these names for the Celts, but out of curiosity, what's the Celtic word for "new?"
