Hi there,

Just got a bad experience this week-end. I've lost one of my 4 armies by trying to capture the capitol of the Grecs and finally I've lost one army (dead). A great number of my towns (mode democratie) fall in revolt mode. I've fixed by choosing the Communism mode (that I would recommand if you have many towns in differents continents).

Hoping that would help you not to make the same mistake ...

Most of the time, I just have my most valuable troops camping outside the cities. If they revolt, I will retake them in the next turn - no problem.:) If they dare doing it twice, I will burn that city to the ground and rebuild it from scratch. Yeah, that would teach them a lesson not to revolt the next time.;)

PS: If I have to be inside a recently captured city, I will move in at least 20+ units. They won't revolt if you have a lot of units inside.

That was a problem pre-patch, eh? How would you like having your shiny new town called Giza with 16 cavalry in it revolt to the Egyptians when their only town was a 2 pop town on a two square island with a spearman? That was almost as bad as when it happened again four turns later:cringe: :aargh3: :cringe:

EDIT: grammar and spelling

OUCH! Maple, thats sucks ASS.

The moral of the story is: never leave armies in recently-conquered towns.

I believe it is perfectly save to leave a stack to quell the stinking resistance for a couple of turns. However once that is done move them out imm. to avoid the risk of losing the stack. Well that is what I experienced. Are there any other observations where a city revolts in lets say less then 4 turns with a good stack in place?

My approach is to force a lot of citizens in town to become entertainers.
Then the city would be stable enough to buy (hurry) a temple and a cathedral.
If you are not so RICH, you can wait several turns. Some citizens will die of starvation. Then give them a temple.

p.s. newbie here, my first post. :)

Well done Raymund, and welcome!

But you would have impressed us all much more if you'd just told the truth, namely

"BURN IT!" :flamedevi

"BURN IT ALL!" :satan:

Which is generally what I do now, unless I expect to conquer the entire culture within a couple of turns. I often find it works out better to raze anyway, since I find my city placement choices to be better than the AI's.
