I am new to FfH2, not really this site... as you can see I am a lurker of immense proportions... almost 4 years worth.

Of course I love this mod, better than original civ 4 to me. more randomness, craziness, different civs and religions and it fixed my biggest complaint with the original...... there was really only one way to do things. And it led me to buy BtS (i played the original Civ 4 patched for over 4 years before)

Thanks FfH2 Team. Me and my friend play LAN games weekly against each other, simultanoeus turns (on Erebud, all the time)

Now the questions:

1. If a holy city is razed (say FoL) would the civ followers of the religion still be able to have it has a state religion or religion in general it even though technically it is gone? Also more importantly, would the religion-specific units (fawns) disappear or go barbarian?

I ask because my friend was crushed in this one game by the good elves with FoL in a heavily forrested area with STACKS of fawns and the other low tech unit. She also had AT least 30 Towns total (she had about 7 or 8 cities, one size 18).

2. Are there really no spearmen/pikemen for horses?

I asked these 2 questions cuz in a current game where Tsunake is leading, I think he has FoL with Fawns in forest (he started in forest) and has his powerful horses to run the land outside of the forest (everything else :)
Fortunately we are separated by mountains but I grow tired of being number 2.

Also.... that is a spiffy manual that xienwolf (sp?) fixed up. I wish there was a dedicated link the new one under the new patches for FfH2.

Sorry bout the wall o' text.

1. You can still have it as your state religion, no units will die. You might not be able to win a religion victory with that religion though (I cant remember).

2. Pikemen were removed, so you just need to use appropriately upgraded units.

Yeah there is no specific horse counter in FFH, actually most things don't have any direct counter at all. From my experience, you just have to fight it out with your most experienced, strongest, and fastest units, unlike the counter game from normal civ 4.

And good luck with Tansuke, he's a military monster. Since I'm a coward, I just wait for his economy to crash so I can out-tech him.

Maybe I don't get your point, but in FFH2 every unit can have promotions to make counters - but flexible. So you don't need pikeman, but Swordsman with the promotion against Mounted units. The counter game is still in, but with more versatility. Because it's not tied to units but to promotions.

Counter Promotions +40% Strength exist for:
Animal (w. Tech)
Archery
Beast (w. Tech)
Disciple (w. Tech)
Melee
Mounted
Undead (w. Tech)
Daemon (w. Tech)

Which makes the following very interesting, because there is NO counter per se for:
Arcane
Recon
Siege

Ratha's have a bonus against Recon units.

this is a game where you never can know enough :D thanks for the information, makes Empyrian even better. :)

Also first strikes give additional bonuses against recon units and some by-the-way counter-horse bonuses. So a unit appropriately upgraded with counter-mounted promotion and a few drills can kill horsemen easily. You may want to consider to build a form of the titan and run +2xp civic to gain promotions faster.

most mounted units ignore first strikes.

horsemen need flanking 3. And if you don't kill Tasunke before he has horse archers, you are truly a masochist.
