Happy New year all!

Congrats to vadalaz on taking BOTH gauntlets and putting up a bunch of great games last month. Incredible!

Congrats to MAGA and dinanipedro for getting in great gold medal games as well, in addition to some other solid victories.

Great to see Dines' games too. I seriously bow down before you who plays Deity, Domination, Marathon, Huge, Pangaea games. That takes resolve, as well as great skill to win so fast!
I found it interesting you played two Deity domination games with the Iroquois... The other civs you played all have a great hook for domination with special units. Did you use Mohawk Warriors to good effect? Or the movement through woods and jungle?

I have to say, I grew quite addicted to playing Shoshone games. I had forgotten how insane their "Great Expanse" ability is, not to mention their pathfinders. It was like withdrawal when I stopped playing them and used another civ-- "Wait, why don't I get all the good tiles around me when I settle?" "How come I can't choose what I find in the ancient ruins?"

Another observation: I don't know about others, but attempts at fast finishes for Diplomacy games take me about 4 times as long as any other type of game to play. I can roll through Domination, Culture, and even Science games usually at a fairly decent clip, but if I try that with Diplomacy, I screw up something every single time. I blew some great starts, with El Dorado once even, because I screwed up something- Getting sniped for wonders; not conquering everything in time; falling just short of science; messing up Great People timing. There was always something. I started forcing myself to just stop every 40-50 turns and recalibrate exactly what I needed to do.

congrats on the chieiftan t144 quick science victory impressive,
also the siam warlord quick times from both vadalaz t141 and yourself

some great games this update nice to see

Happy new year...

The main reason for playing the iroquois, was that there was a record to beat.

So now i am the master of Deity, Domination, tiny and larger, landmap :king:

But the tiny game was over so fast, i wanted to do a huge one also.
My first attempt was with lots of forest and jungle, but it makes it to slow to move around your armies.
So i rerolled and got a good desert start instead. Saving iron on my melee units did help, but i never built any longhouses...
