I hate to say it, but the one thing that keeps me from modding Civ3 is the loss of the HOF score. (Vanity. Sigh. ) With Civ4's extreme moddability, do you think they made it so you can still have the HOF at the end even if the game is modded? (And the city views...) I hope so... ;)

I agree. This was a most silly idea, as the same intended effect could have reached by just marking the score after changing the game settings by the editor.

Well, I think the "official" HoF must be left alone. Maybe Firaxis would improve current HoF, having to choose "unmodded scenarios" and "modded scenarios". In "modded scenarios" you have to select one map and then see the HoF. Maybe modded HoF should be written in each scenario file, good to share with friends: "This map is great. I made 14564 points in this map! Try to beat my score." Well, an option to clean HoF would be good, for public release of the map.

This way avoid conflicts between unmodded and modded scenarios appearing in the same HoF. What do you think?

There should be a HoF checksum that distinguishes between all mods aswell as default settings. I presume they beat us to thinking of this problem though :)

I would be miffed if the game could not distinguish between stormind's super mod 0.1 and stormbind's super mod 0.2 :p

Ramalhão and stormbind, that is what I mean! Thanks! :)

Never meant to refer to the official online HoF - sorry my bad. I didn't think of that as I don't play the GOTM or online HoF games - maybe never will - it is the personal HoF kept on one's own pc I mean - I just want to keep up with all my scores for personal satisfaction, but would still like to mod the game too and keep the scores ...selfish, I know.
  ;)

I actually made several posts on this subject in the old days of early civ3. It doesnt have to be complicated... just record the d@mn score!!!

I still play civ2 occasionally and it gives me great satisfaction to compare my play now with my best scores of the past... with civ3 most of my play is with mods - thus no scores to compare with my future self.

my old sig was something like:

We are NOT cavemen!!!!!!!!! Do not make us scratch our scores on to the walls of our caves!!!!
