This is a bit of a dumb question really. Of course everyone must have, even if it was just in their first game and then they came here and improved overnight. A better question would have been "How long since you last lost a city?" You may think that you're pretty damned good at Civ and that there would be no chance of losing a city, but things can conspire against you when you least expect it. The phalanx-tank issue is just one possibility. If you claim never to have lost a city then I'd invite you to go ahead and play one of the WW2 scenarios as the Russians. You'll find out how easy it is to lose your cities then!

I have never lost a city, thankyou very much, and whenever I'm not at school or on the net, I'm playing Civ2. Oh, and, Duke, this was just a fun experimental thing. I'm new to Civfanatics, and was just looking around. It's not something to get tetchy over. And I don't have the WW2 patch.
Eh up. Didn't realise you were in Barnsley. You'll soon have a lovely Italian village above your city.
I find it very difficult to believe that you've never lost a city ever. I presume that you're playing on the harder difficulty levels with lots of barbs and the untimely arrival of a load of red dragoons can spell doom for even a well-defended city. What version have you got? Look on the front page of the site to find the downloads section for Civ 2 and the patch to change your game from Civ 2 Classic to MGE. Then go and explore the world of scenarios! That might mean you'll lose some cities. Just for experience sake of course.
In vino veritas is Latin for "in wine there is truth". I have been tempted to change the colour of the text to a burgundy perhaps but have never got round to it.
Sorry if you thought I was getting tetchy. I think that if you have never lost a single city then you are not challenging yourself enough and ought to move up to the next difficulty level.
It is hard to lose a city at the lower game levels. I don't think I've ever lost one at the Warlord level; maybe a couple ever at Prince. I lose one or two every few King games +.
Very funny. I have played oh, I don't know, 12 Civ games from start to finish. I have to admit, due to bad strategy on my part, I did have Washington re-taken by the Yanks...
