How do i add new factions

That thread does'nt say anything!

I think the engine has a limited number of slots for factions, but you can just "move factions in and out" using the (buggy) editor that is included with the expansion. I seem to remember it was easier to just manually edit the faction files, then use the editor to put the new faction in the game.
There... :)

No, it tells you that no .... factions can be added, but that .... factions can be replaced in the ... game. So you could ask the people that have done it in the thread that I gave.

Edit:

Also, look at

http://apolyton.net/smac/, "Modification" (2nd row, 2nd button), "Editing faction.txt" (2nd category on left)

Without getting into a Civfanatic vs. Apolyton fight, I would sugget that you go to http://www.apolyton.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=24

It is the Apolyton forum "AC Creation". It has been quiet lately, but I'm sure it is monitored by people like me.

Once you've taken a look at the links above, try creating a faction file and post it to the AC Creation forum.

Again, without getting into Civfanatic vs. Apolyton, I think you will find the visitors to the Apolyton AC Creation forum more hospitable to helping a budding faction creator than the visitors to the Civfanatics Alpha Centauri forum.

Indeed.... whining just ticks me off as well as inability to read and use the google.
Good links though

Its easy peasey.

There are two ways; you can use the FACEDIT program that comes with Alien Crossfire, load up the new faction in it - save it, and select "Add New Faction to Game" when it asks you too.
I dont recommend it as its a bit buggy with the blurbs and such like.

The other way is to manually edit the alphax text.

Open it, scroll down to where it says #CUSTOMFACTIONS just below, #FACTIONS and #NEWFACTIONS near the bottom.
And underneath #CUSTOMFACTIONS add the name of the faction file you want the game to look for for example if you had a faction called The Fremen and the file The Fremen use is fremen (fremen.txt, fremen.pcx etc) then just write FREMEN, FREMEN.

Viola.

Simple.

And Gelion maybe he did look and maybe could have gotten a bit lost and stuck? Its easily done - theres really no need to be a sarcastic nasty clod about it to him.
It would have cost you nothing to actually help him, and if you didnt know yourself well frankly you shoulda kept your fingers to yourself. As my mother always said - if you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all!

He only wanted some assistance cos he was confused and lost after all.
