hey everyone, i recently got into the civ games, and i thought i would start with the 3rd game as it was free for a few days on humble bundle. i recently saw automated battles but these are for the other games, i have tried the map editor way but that did not work, does anyone know how to do a battle royale?

Assuming that what you're asking for is something like this...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_royale_game

...then Civ3(Conquests) is possibly not the game you think it is/are looking for. It's primarily an empire-building game, not an arena-battle game.

That said, on the "New Game: Choose your Civ/ Opponents/ Difficulty" set-up screen, within the 'Rules' box, you can switch on the 'Elimination' or '(Mass) Regicide' short-game modes (these are primarily intended for multiplayer-games, but can be used within solo-games as well). These modes cause any player to be eliminated once they lose a certain critical number of towns (this number is set under 'Game limits', otherwise it defaults to one), or when their (last) 'King' unit is killed, respectively ('Regicide' = each Civ has only one King-unit, 'Mass Regicide' = each Civ has multiple King-units). The included Firaxis-made Scenarios 'Fall Of Rome' and 'Sengoku' (available under the "Civ-Content" menu) use 'Elimination' and 'Regicide', respectively.

And for infinite wisdom regarding use of the Editor for modding, ask in the 'Creation & Customisation' subforum...

amdcrash, I´m not quite sure what you are asking for and if the definition in the wikipedia is, what you are looking for, as you mentioned automated battles.
Do you only want to watch the AI civilizations when they are clashing each other or do you want to be a part in that game, but also watching all other civs in their actions? In both variants you would need edited biqs for your game. There are also the short game settings that tjs282 did explain to you. May be you want something different. The term 'Battle Royal' is not very common in playing Civ 3.

yes, that is what i am looking for.

In that case the easiest way is to create a biq in Debug Mode. This is the simple setting you have to do in the editor.

Your civ is a part of the game, but you have the option to play actively in the game against other civs or to be completely defensive with the commands posted below by setting high standard defenders in your city or to place another settler in a safe location, when your city is in danger.

In this game you can see all other civs and the complete map with all resources. Please note, that you only have access to the resource you can see on the map, if you have researched the proper tech (if a tech is needed for that resource). To help you a little bit, I have tried to do such a Debug-biq and hope it will work for you (so I myself play a heavy modded C3C). Unzip the biq in your C3C \scenarios folder and you should be able to start it as a scenario. Please note that your civ is called' Debug' and in the top of the screen you have some additional notes for the Debug Mode (that normally is used to test mods or scenarios in C3C).

Make a regicide game with Kings only. No settlers/towns/warriors.
Then give all the Kings different skills and play on pangea. Could be fun. :)
