How do I set a custom avatar? (Sorry)

I know this isn't really civ related, and I apologize, but how do I set a custom avatar from an image that I have saved?

I believe you need to cross a certain threshold to do this.

I see all these people that have photos and stuff for their avatars, HOW DO I DO THAT? I don't just want a little unit picture, I want to use my own image that I have.

Firstly, you need a certain number of posts before you can do any customising of your avatar. I'm not sure what this limit is - 30???

Once you are allowed to edit your avatar you can upload a custom picture. This can be an image off the web or an image file on your own computer, it doesn't matter, you just specify the location and the file gets uploaded and stored on the forum's server. It's all very easy and obvious, once you are allowed access to the customising page.

Until then you can make a start on preparing your custom image, bearing in mind the following restrictions:

The maximum size of your custom image is 70 by 70 pixels or 4.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

You have to have 34 posts and then you can upload your custom avatar....
