How do you beat diety?

I just tried building alot of cities, but there was so much riot that I slopped that idea. Then I played with only few cities (7-10 or so) until 1 AD, and things went alot better for me.

How do you do it?

1 Build all the "Happiness Wonders"
Hanging Gardens, Oracle, Mike's, Bach's, Cure for Cancer
2. Build Temples , Cols, market place, banks
3. - 100. Trade trade trade trade trade trade trade
Once had a game in deity with more than 800 million people -
no problem

Make sure that you don't grow more than you can handle. Either by building units (use warriors), happiness improvements or by building lots of settlers to keep the cities small. Also try to build HG, since your city will always be able to handle size1, and usually size 2. Then make sure you get MC too.

I keep this riot factor in mind all the time. While in Monarchy I only build 6 cities and after that I like to build HG before founding my 7th city. With HG I will build about 6 more cities and research towards monotheism. After Mike's is built there are no restrictions on expansion anymore.

An alternative is to stay small and go for early Republic. Don't build more than 8 cities and build a temple in every city right away. Skip HG.
