How do you keep track of your units in QSC log?

I have a problem when writing QSC log. After a while when there are many workers, I start forgetting what worker was doing what. With a new turn, I have a few workers ready for new orders, but I do not know if they are number 2, 3 and 6 and not 1, 4 and 7. So I go to my log, read what workers were doing what and trying to figure out who is likely to finish their work by current turn.
It is time consuming and stupid. There should be better way to deal with this.

Rename each Worker as Worker1 or Worker2. I don't keep a QSC log but I rename my exploring Warriors so I can keep track of who contacts who.

Activate them, then hit shift + n to rename it.

Its also useful for ship chaining, when you're trying to work out which ship you've unloaded a unit from, and which one you want to reload it on to.

:thanx:, I guess it will save ~30% of my time when I write QSC log and will improve its accuracy.

:thanx: Let me second that thanks!
I had no idea that such a thing was possible, this will definitely save me a lot of time.

If you are like me and can never remember short cut keys, beyond the basics, you can turn on 'Show Advanced Unit Action Buttons' and it will give you a rename button when the unit is selected.

Wow, and here I was getting frustrated and not wanted to keep a log very well. Time to do it again.

Is it possible to rename a unit in Vanilla civ or it is just new feature in PTW?

Similar thing - can you move multiple units in stack in Vanilla?, I understand that in PTW it is possible.

:( No, you can't. Guess it's time to go pick up that PTW once and for all...

Yes, you can - it's J for all units in a stack, and Control + J for all units of one type.

I like to name my warriors after famous mythical/historical warriors (Ajax, Hercules, Thor, Conan, etc) and my workers get 3 character female names using alphabetical order (Ann, Bee, Cat, Deb, Eve...). I normally stop naming my once the QSC is over. It's always interesting to see who survives from the Ancient Age until the end of the game.

Arrrr, ainwood, I never thought of using that for ship chaining. That'll save me some trouble, thanks!

Re naming units: it can get a bit confusing after upgrades. eg a horseman renamed as horseman1 will still be called horseman1 when he upgrades to be a knight. It can be resolved fairly easily by renaming him again, or by naming him more imaginatively in the first place.

When I first name the unit, I include the unit type in the name, warrior becomes Conan - Warrior and when he upgrades he becomes Conan - Swordsman and if fights well, promotes and gets a GL he becomes GL Conan - Swordsman. I once had a unit who produce a GL as a sword, MDI and Guerilla (no TOW in PTW).

denyd - For some reason I've always played believing a unit could only produce 1 Great Leader. Does this mean that once a unit is upgraded it can again create a GL or am I just completely wrong in my initial assumption? (Not a great stretch of the imagination. :mischief: )

Exactly. It cannot produce GL unless it is upgraded. It is described in SirPleb's article on GLs in War Academy.

Sabre: Exactly, once a unit is upgraded it loses it's star, drops to a veteran and can again be promoted to elite and produce another GL. In theory the same horse could produce 3 (horse/knight/cavalry), the same warrior 5 (warrior/sword/MDI/Guerilla/TOW). With a lot of luck the same spear could produce 6 (spear/pike/musket/rifle/infantry/mech inf).
