How do you promote a unit?

Just started playing and I have a unit that says it has a promotion available but I can't for the life of me see anywhere to click to bring up the promotion tree that everyone is talking about. lol

Bottom right, it takes up the units turn by the way, and heals some hp.

It seemed in my session that units had to be in their home territory to promote - which I quite like.

Promotions end the unit's turn, so if you have already moved and/or attacked, you can't promote. You don't need to be in home territory.

I had this issue as well. I found out that the notification comes ..then do a turn then the icon to promote him will arrive. Also I think the unit has to have full movement or else no promotion. It was not intuitive to figure that out at all but I got it eventually.
