Well, I just want to know...it seems a little confusing (and very frustrating when that fighter takes out your jet 3 times in a row!!). How do you neutralize enemy air forces, and what the hell does the air superiority order do anyway??

For Air Superiority, you have a 50% chance of downing a Fighter, Bomber, or Jet Fighter, and a 5% chance of downing a Stealth Fighter or Bomber. A stack of 20+ air units on Air Superiority in one city will pretty much destroy at least 1 Stealth Air Unit.

To neutralize enemy air forces, you have two options: 1) Bomb the city continuously and you will see the air units as the last units in there (but they can't stop a ground attack), and if you bomb them more, then their HPs will start going down like normal units. Or 2), more cost effective, once you kill all defenders in the city, you will capture the city and destroy their bombers/fighters/air units. :)

if I have a figthter with air superiority mission in the operational range of the tile I'm going to bomb with a bomber... will this fighter "cover" the bomber against enemy interceptors ?

I think air superiority works a bit like auto bombard if I am not mistaken.

Anyway, how do the A/D/M stats for air units work... are they different from normal units or exactly the same. Do they get bonuses from AA Guns and SAM batteries??

No, you won't get protection from the fighter. Air Superiority is only on defense. (The interturn when AIs attack).

would be nice if they change this. I mean... when in history did anyone send a wing of bombers without fighters protection ?

Until drop tanks, raids deep into Germany were only escorted to the range of the fighters. See the movie "Memphis Belle."

Because of how air superiority missions work, this is already implicit. A fighter would obviously not be able to "escort" a bomber beyond its operational range. Quoting what I asked above...
