What's the mechanism behind your units gaining experience? Is your unit more likely to get experience points when it attacks a weaker opponent, a stronger opponent, or is it when it's attacked by a weaker, or stronger opponent? Any articles out there on how to maximize your unit's chances of getting experience?

If your unit wins a less favorible odd battle it will gain more xp. The less the odds, the higher the xp gained.

This usually happens with your suicide cats, they can typically gain 7-10 xp after winning a ~1% odd battle.

I prefer to fight 98% winning odd battles which my units will win and end up 2xp higher, and that is ofter what needed for the next promotion. 99%+ odd win will only give you 1 xp.

I don't think that any fight above 90% odds will give more than one experience point for a victory. I haven't confirmed this, but I'm pretty confident from memory that 98% will never give you two experience points.

you get 2 XP as soon as R (= attacker's strength/defender's strength) is than 2. If you check the win ratio for R between 1.6 and 2, that's pretty near 98% ;). In fact, you could have 2 xp even at 99%, but that's tricky to know.
