How long will Fire be supported?

I'm brand new to FfH and I have to say I love it! I played two partial games to get the hang of things, and just finished my first full game. There is still a lot to learn, but I've got the basics down now. After just one game I'm hooked. FfH is great! I could go on and on about everything I like about it but I'm sure that would be preaching to the choir. Everything about it is fantastic...

...except the civilopedia. :) It has some great atmosphere (some really good stories) and some basic information, but is short on information to help noobs learn the ropes. It basically has to function as both reference guide for the old pros who already know how everything works, and a game manual for the new players. It could use some help in the latter area.

How much longer will Fire be supported? I just d/l 0.23 and would love to help flesh out the civilopedia, most likely by editing the wiki. I have no intention of buying BtS any time soon and will continue to play Fire for that reason. However, if support for Fire is going to take a distant back seat to Ice, then my time could be better spent elsewhere (like actually playing the game, LOL). Is Fire going to be obsolete in six months, or will it still be supported a year from now?

Most of our focus is going to be on "Shadow" and future versions. We probably won't be spending much time on further polish on "Fire". There is a long list of stuff to do for FfH, unfortunatly work on "Fire" falls pretty low on that list.

Pedia entries and documentation in general are nearly impossible at this stage. Remember FfH2 is only halfway done (having finsihed 2 phases with 2 to go) so there are a lot of changes happening. And these aren't just adds, we spend more time tweaking existing functions then we do adding new stuff. All those tweaks break the documentation, so we end up with what is worse than missing documentation, we end up with no documentation.

But there is one saving grace. Check out the FfH2 wiki. Andone can add to amodify it. If you want to help document FfH2, and find a good place for up to date information, thats where you want to go.

I understand. You've done an incredible job already and from the sounds of things you have a lot more ahead of you. Thank you for creating such a wonderful game. I'm sure I'll spend many, many enjoyable hours playing it.

But with the fact that fire will not change a lot, documenting Fire (and stating that the documentation is only true for Fire!)
is a reasonable thing, as fire will be kept (still not further developed) for those guys who dont buy BtS.
So helping updating the Wiki and perhaps a community-updated Civilopedia file might be worth a try and could definitely appreciated by new players, as they should play fire for a while anyway (as Shadow will not be really enjoyable for some months... but after that even more :)).

So, I think gathering some people to write a better civilopedia, using the wiki as resource might be worth the try.

cheers...

As a warning, much of the wiki is still on 0.22h; only a few changes from 0.23 have made it into the main wiki so far. That should change within the next few weeks.
