How many people made Civilization?

The answer to your question is "zero".

Sid Meier is a god, which excludes him from the people list, and he had some very decent coders. And everybody knows coders are not people.
 
Sid Meier and Bruce Shelley helped with game design.
That's all I could find.
 
The sixth section down titled The Meier-Shelley Design Process at this link implies that Sid Meier programmed the game function on his own.

The game file CREDITS.TXT states: Designed by SID MEIER with BRUCE SHELLEY

No one is giving any coding or programming credit.

This is a really good question. Another thing I wonder is how long it took. I've never had any idea about how much work it takes to make something as big as Civilization or Warlords or Sim Ant or city. I'm slowly finding out about it the hard way though, although perhaps I'm not the most skillful programmer in the world, maybe someone talented could do the same work in less time, I've heard about 40 hour game projects where you have to make a game all by yourself and do it in no more than 40 hours. That's gotta be some pretty intense 40 hours!

in CIVILIZATION. We're here to answer questions and listen to comments.
CIVILIZATION grew out of RAILROAD TYCOON and a couple of other games that
we liked. We spent about 18 months designing, programming, and testing.
