Each new game I start, I'm thinking I'll do the math. In the early game, so many turns at 50 years apiece, in the middle two years a turn, in the endgame one year each turn. But I always get caught up in the excitement of the game itself and forget to notice when the year interval changes. Has anyone totaled up the turns?

In civ11 the mumber of turns per game decreaaed as the difficulty level rose. I assume this is not the case in civ111. Aren't the number of turns per game now the same regardless of the difficulty level?

In Civ3 you get 540 turns before 2050AD in which to win. As the difficulty level moves up you can often meet victory condition earlier, but you have until 2050 to win.

540 turns with the score recorded. After 2050 the score is over but you can still play if you want.

Like Khshayarsha, I also say I will take note of this on every new game start, then somehow just don't. SO maybe someone who has will post the info.

THe question is in which year(s) do the yrs. per turn change, ie when does 50 -> 20 -> 10 -> 2 or whatever.

And the answer is ....

(your post here!)

Baaa, That's all, folks!!

It is:

4000BC to 2750BC, 50 years/turn, 25 turns
2750BC to 1750BC, 40 years/turn, 25 turns
1750BC to 750BC, 25 years/turn, 40 turns
750BC to 250AD, 20 years/turn, 50 turns
250AD to 1250AD, 10 years/turn, 100 turns
1250AD to 1750AD, 5 years/turn, 100 turns
1750AD to 1950AD, 2 years/turn, 100 turns
1950AD to 2050AD, 1 year/turn, 100 turns

There are 540 turns in total.
1400AD is a special date in that it is the "halfway" mark, 270 turns played, 270 to go.

There's a calculator available at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17550 which can be used to see how many turns have been played at any given date.

Hope that helps!

Now that you mentioned that calculator, Sir Pleb, I found a small bug with it that some people may not be aware of. If your previous turn's score was less than 10,000 (say 9,950), and your next turn is over 10,000 (10,001), it shows up as an error. You must enter 09950 to get it to work.

I actually did notice that bug a while ago and the fix is already in, in version 1.1. I've replaced the original version at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17550 with the fixed one.
