Building empire
Hi -
This should be an extremely easy question and thing to do, but I'm not finding the trick.
I am currently in a succession game, playing as Gilgamesh. Our color is purple/dark ingido. The problem is that our immediate neighbor, Frederick of Germany, is also purple/dark indigo. This results in difficulty telling where the borders are. Since we are playing a game based on culture flipping cities, this is annoying.
I found the \Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\Civilizations\CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file, and saw that it had entries for color schemes. GREAT! My thought was to copy this file, modify just the entry for the Germany color scheme, and put it in my C:\documents and settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets\xml\civilizations folder.
Then I got down to Germany and saw it was grey. Sumeria was, as expected, Dark Indigo.
So this is a two part question:
1) Why might Germany, whose color is normally grey, have been showing up as purple? I am running BTS 3.17 with Dresden's unofficial patch, as well as BUG 3.6. In neither the dresden patch nor the BUG 3.6 do I see any CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file that might be used preferentially to the base file installed with BTS 3.17
2) Is there another file I should be looking for to dictates the color used?
My understanding is that any files in the c:\..\..\CustomAssets folder are used instead of the basic assets in the installation directory. Is this accurate?
Just as another point if info - the only CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml files present on my system are those that come with various MOD's (afterworld, charlemagne, etc) and the ones that come w/CivIV vanilla, Warlords and BTS.
Any help appreciated - including any information to help you help me!
EDIT: I think I found why Frederick is purple. We hand picked our AI opponents, and we already had another German AI leader.
Also, I am doubting this is the proper forum for this. Mods, feel free to move if this is more appropriate in another forum. Thanks.
