Hello I am new to the forum and I was wondering how do you get a average picture to work as a title picture in civ 2.I down loaded a free gif editor and I make sure the picture is no larger than 640x480.The problem I have is making sure the picture is in 8-bit gif formate. Can anyone tell me how I can tell or how I can change the picture formate.Secondly how do make sure my picture is in the right palette to work if any one can let me know I would be very happy.:D

To make sure that the pic has the right palette, open an existing scenario title pic, copy your image, and paste it into the existing title, then save it. If necessary, adjust the size of the existing title before you paste your image into it...;)

Thank you for the info.I was able to paste pictures from title that are in old scenarios but i tried putting a picture in from a web site but it wouldnt work how do I know what bit formate the picture is in .thanks for the help

Once again you come threw for me again Kobayashi thanks alot I am off to get printshop :D

Wasn´t it PainShop Pro? ;)

However, Plumbean, the problem with pics from the net is, that they often use more colors than Civ2. The game uses 256 color gif or bmp files so an image with more colors has to be converted. Most of the better graphic editors can do that easily.

I use Corel´s PhotoPaint, when I try to past a pic into into another the software asks automatically to convert it (when both use different numbers of colors). Other graphics editors may have similar options, simply look into the helpfile of your program...;)

My typo. Printshop is that stupid program I used to use on my Apple II to make greeting cards. Its PAINTSHOP PRO (PSP from now on). But Bro if you can tell me where to get PAINSHOP PRO, I'd like to get it too (into S&M :D).

I only mentioned PSP cause its freely downloadable. Otherwise, its exactly as Bro has described.

PhotoPaint is part of Corel´s "Graphics Suite" - very good, but also very, very expensive. Every good software shop should have it, but if you can get an older version (v7 or 8 are still great) you can save lots of money

PaintShopPro is shareware, you can download a 30 day trial version here: http://www.jasc.com/download_4.asp?prod=001
After that time, you have to register (and to pay) ;)
