[CTP] How to get unprovoked attacks???

Finally, at long last I found a game to replace Civ 2 (the rest of the Civ games are terrible) but unless I trespass on another nation's territory, none of them will attack me at all.

I want to get some WAR going, but since the rpg'er in me insists on playing the good-guy, I can't declare war on anyone until they attack. Is this just the way the game works; no conflict at all unless you start it? Surely there's a way to get the AI's to attack me?

Did you install the update to version 1.2? I just reinstalled the game and started playing, the AI is not especially intelligent but they have definitely been going to war without much in the way of provocation. I noticed that the more powerful you get, the angrier the AI becomes.
