How to mod carriers?

I tried to use the search function........but the "new" search function is not what it used to bed:confused: So I am sorry if this is answered in another thread......

I find it very disappointing that the carrier in Civ4 can only carry 3 aircrafts. In my opinion an aircraft carrier is the most ultimately fighting machine in modern history.........so I want to make them more powerful.

I have two questions:
- Where do I change the stats of the carrier, so it will cost twice the hammers to produce, but instead it carries 6 aircrafts?
- Do the change above apply to a game in progress (where I haven't reach the "carrier age" yet), or do I have to start a new game?

Well, I don't know where and how to mod, but I hear it's quite easy.

But WHY would you want to double the cost, AND the number of planes carried? You can achieve this already, simply by building two carriers. I understand what you're trying to do, it's just that your example doesn't make much sense. :)
 
I guess it doesn't give much sense now that I think of it ;)

But what I want to achieve is to have fewer but more powerful cariers rather than many but weak carriers. And also to make the carrier more valuable and more important to protect........if you loose a cheap carrier with "only" three planes you can almost have your carrier sail alone around the world. But if you have an expensive carrier that carries 6 planes, you have to build a battlegroup to protect you carrier........

Ramboost, makes perfect sense to me. After all, carriers don't sail on their own do they? They are in carrier groups...talking about rl here)
 
i have it schanged to hold 4 jetfighter. i think it was in the \xml\units\civ4unitinfos(?).xml

i dont know how the capacity was called but i had to scroll a lot in the carrier description part.

i will describe it clearer when i'm at home!
 
I would like to see Carriers modded as well.... but not for all civs. I think a "Super Carrier" ( Like a Nimitz class) should be the UU for America, as only America uses these behemothes in real world. Throw out the "Seals", EVERY country has special forces of some kind why should only America's be represented in the game? No other country uses the huge 'floating city' Carriers like America does. I think a Nimitz class should cost maybe +50% and carry 5-6 planes.
 
Yeah, the path is like 0d1n3oo3Broad said. In line 11226 begins the entry "Carrier", and in line 11345 you find:

However, keep in mind that one unit in CIV represents a UNIT (x soldiers / tanks / airplanes, not ships, however), so "1" fighter is actually meant as a couple of them. Enlarging cargo capacity to, say, a dozen units is equivalent to allow a couple hundred fighters land on a carrier.

eehm.......that I did not understand........:confused:

Edit: I just realized what you where saying.........;-) A Nimitz class carrier can carry approx. 85 aircrafts.........wonder what that would be in Civ units:-)
