How to modify "WWII in the Pacific" successfully for multiplayer ? (Missing entry ?)

Hello,

I want to play a normal multiplayer game where players start with a settler and a worker but with WW2 technology/era.

So I tried to edit the "9 MP WWII in the Pacific.biq" file with the Civilization 3 Conquests editor (Civ3ConquestsEdit.exe).

I made only the following little changes:

1. No time limit.
2. Added a settler.
3. No custom map. (So map is generated each time).

When loading the modified scenerio in hotseat it works.

But when loading it via a local network or the internet multiplayer other players get an error when the host loads the scenerio:

"Missing entry in "text\PediaIcons.txt": ICON_BLDG_Naval_Academy"

I could delete the naval academy from the scenerio... but is there someway to fix it so it can still be used ?

(Same errors happen for some other things)

It seems to have something to do with the way parts of different scenerio's or loaded and the scenerio search path...

Bye,
Skybuck.

Make sure under "Scenario search folders" under scenario properties, it says "..\conquests\WWII in the Pacific", not "WWII in the Pacific". Deleting the naval academy won't help anything, it will just fail to find something else like the files for the Nipponese Infantry or something like that .

Well, in the WW2 in the Pacific PediaIcons file, there is an entry for that which is:

#ICON_BLDG_Naval_Academy
SINGLE
57
art\civilopedia\icons\buildings\navalacademylarge.pcx
art\civilopedia\icons\buildings\navalacademysmall.pcx

This is what it cannot find, so you may want to check the PediaIcons to make sure it is there, and if it is there; then that would mean it is not finding the PediaIcons file itself (which would imply some type of directory issue). If you haven't modified the PediaIcons, I don't see why this would happen though.

Hmmm, I am thinking of doing the same thing, except that rather than adding a settler, I have reset the Combat Engineer unit to also have the ability to build city. I do need to reset the population cost of the unit to a value of 2 however. The other option would be to set the worker unit to Build City, and increase that unit population cost to 2.

However, I am thinking more in the line of doing specific campaigns in the war, like the Solomon Islands campaign, the New Guinea campaign, and maybe the Burma and Central Pacific campaigns, where you would be using something to build and develop bases. It sounds like you are thinking of starting the game with WW2 technology and units available.
