How to retain early-era improvement appearance?

I've noticed an odd problem in Civ 5 on my computer where it has trouble panning around the map. If I pan from one side of the world to the other and back, it seems to need to "re-load" the tiles. It seems to be more pronounced once there are a lot of improvements on the map tiles.

It's only a little annoying until I reach the Industrial Era. At that point, it suddenly becomes much more severe, and I sometimes can't load saved games. I strongly suspect that it has something to do with the farms having their little huts replaced with those shiny silos in the new era.

It occurred to me that it would be worthwhile to try making a little mod that makes farms retain their old appearance in the later eras, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. My modding knowledge is pretty much limited to XML stuff with the ModBuddy. I suspect that I'd need to do something involving the improvement's <ArtDefineTag> (or rather, the file(s) referenced by it), but I can't seem to find where the ArtDefineTags for tile improvements are.

Does anyone know to how to make this change?

Ah, thank you. I always forget about packed files.

Now to see if I can get the Nexus tool to work properly. So far it's in "everything crashing all the time" mode.
