How to rush techs?

I think I've read people saying that they usually rushbuild techs, but I've never ever seen anyone describe how..

Please, enlighten my n00bie soul. :crazyeyes

I put a look in the search engine of this site for what you said and haven't got anything about rushbuilding tech in civ3...provide a link to when it is mentioned...

In civ2 tech could be obtained by caravans trading with places (due to equal cash and beakers being obtained) so allowing several techs per turn if you pushed for it...I am pretty certain this is not the case in civ3.
