How to set up a game

So i'm trying to play with my friend and the game ladder never seems to worth with the mod and pitboss does not work after the steam takeover.
Anyone can point me to a fix?

Have you tried Pbem? Or DirectIP?

But I have No idea how much Steam interferes with BtS.

Steam removed directIP, but ill try to remove the patch and try it

That seems rather shortsighted of Steam to do doesn't it? Maybe that's why I rarely use Steam or buy games from them.

it seems that firaxis code used gamespy to make the directIP, so it didn't work

I have a ton of games on steam and I dont have any issues like that.

However my copy of civ4 is not from steam so I dont know what they did.

Well I know I can connect in Direct with my wife in a non steam one. So the direct connect still works without gamespy
