How well did the Civs sell?

It's perhaps not so useful to compare today's sales with games from 10 years ago. Back then the industry was a fraction of the size it is now. Just a few geeks playing here and there :) These days however it's on level, or beyond, the movie industry in terms of revenue....

To some extent this is true, if you include the console market (and if you don't include the licensed merchandise and DVD sales and rentals). Unfortunately, turn-based strategy games (or in fact any game where real strategy is involved) are fast becoming a niche market (doubly so, since they don't really have a presence in the console market).

While a big name PC game publisher may take a risk on title that is projected to only sell a half million copies (unlikely, but they may like the game), the console publisher is looking for games that will do ten times that. A mediocre PS2 game sells better than Civ, sad to say.

We can only hope this turns around at some point. A runaway hit is what it would take.

We have to destroy all consoles and force Microsoft to add a copy of Civ to a default Windows installation... ;)

May be 1 ICBM on Microsoft Blvd is enough to the the job :D

I figured the cost for me to get Civ IV in Singapore :D
Tickets : 75usd
Some Kind of Tax In Indonesia: 100usd
Games : 50usd (?)
Hotel : Free
2 Days Food : 100usd.

It might end up, the most expensive game I will buy (325 usd ) On the other hand, I could stay with one nice friend girl over there :D, which might cover the total cost
